Candy Joins The Team

After a long day of work we finally returned to the bunkhouse. Lennie and I have made friends with Slim and the other guys. Slim agreed to give one of his pups to Lennie which really had me worried knowing how dumb and clumsy he is. However, Slim trusts Lennie because he knows that a guy like him would never cause any harm. Candy's old, stinky dog was shot today. Carlton insisted that the dog was no use and that it was time to for him to go and he agreed to take him away. Later that night, Lennie and I told Candy about our plan to buy a ranch. He had agreed to contribute his earnings to help and agreed giving us the ranch if he passed away soon. Well, Lennie got in a fight today. He got punched by Curley and finally made a move after a long time. Curley had to go to the hospital, Lennie apparently broke his whole hand, but Curley agreed on keeping his mouth shut. Afterall, Curley proved to be a coward.

"Get him, Lennie. Don't let him do it, I yelled. Wait a minute, I grabbed Slim's hand and continues to yell, get' em, Lennie!" This is where Curley tried to fight Lennie, but I wanted Lennie to fight back.

Arrival at the Farm

We finally made it to the ranch. I cannot believe the place where we are staying to sleep. Everything seems dirty and broken-down as if we just got put inside an abandoned shelter. However, Candy told us everything would be fine since the last guy that slept there was a very clean person. Candy then introduced us to the boss where he then questioned us about ourselves and where we were from. While the boss was talking to us, I was doing all of the talking in which Lennie said nothing. I think the boss got kind of suspicious about especially later on in the conversation when Lennie said something when he was not supposed to. After a while the boss's son Curly shows up, he was a really conceded guy, who was trying to pick a fight with us.

"I don't want no trouble, Lennie had said to me. He said, I never done nothing to him. I told Lennie, well, that won't do you no good if Curley wants to plug himself up for a fighter. Just don't have nothing to do with him. Will you remember? This is where I tell Lennie not to get into any fights with Curley.

The Beginning of my Journey

It has been a long, sunny day and we finally found a place to rest for the night. Lennie and I have established here in a small hill next to a lake of water. I couldn’t believe innocent Lennie hopped in the dirty green lake and began to drink from it. I quickly took him out, I didn’t want him to get sick. Along the way I noticed Lennie had a dead mouse, I asked him to hand it to me, but he refused. It took quite a long time, but he finally handed the mouse over. After a while we found a nice place along a sandy river bank. The sun was starting to set from the mountains into the valley, and it was starting to get quite cold.  I sent Lennie into the woods to fetch some wood for the fire. When he came back, he was soaking wet. And what did he have in his hand? The mouse I had thrown. And right before we went to sleep we promised ourselves that one day we'll have a ranch of our own.

“O.K. Someday- we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs- An’ have rabbits” (Steinbeck 15). This is where I tell Lennie that one day we'll own our own ranch with animals and we finally won't have to worry about looking for jobs.

The Hunt for Lennie

I saw this coming. Me and the guys are on a hunt to look for Lennie. Lennie is probably  in the riverbed by the woods where I told him to wa...
